Easy yoga asanas you can do at your desk to take a breath from working.
Sitting at a desk for hours is sometimes part of the duality in one’s life. Regardless of whether it’s work or homework, being hunched over a desk can be harmful to the alignment of your spine. This is why taking short breaks to readjust the neck and back can be incredibly advantageous for one’s overall comfortability and alignment.
Cat Cow
On your inhale, roll your shoulders back and down and arch your back. On your exhale, concave your shoulders and back, tucking your chin into your chest. Repeat this sequence at your own pace as many times as needed.
Anjali Mudra and Eagle
Anaji Mudra – bring your palms together and set your elbows on your desk as you scoot your chair out. Try to keep your chin up straight and back straight as much as possible.
Eagle – keeping the spine aligned, with your arms bent at a 90°, stack one elbow on top of the other and intertwine the arms so that the palms are touching together.
Seated Side Stretches
Gently rest into these postures and keep the spine aligned with the hips as much as possible.
Seated Pigeon
Bend the knee and rest your ankle on top of your resting leg. If you would like to relax deeper into this asana, hinge forward from your hips overtop of your legs.
