A guide to implementing morning liquids into your routine for long-term, lasting health


The way we begin our morning sets the tone for the entire day. Fueling your body with nutrient-dense liquids is essential for starting your day out on a positive, energizing note. Not only does a consistent intake of healthy morning liquids properly nurture you for the day, but they also bring lifelong health benefits to the body and mind!


In this guide, I will share with you the three powerful morning liquids I consume daily on an empty stomach, how to prepare them at home, science-backed health benefits (hyperlinked), and the differences I have observed with my health.


LEMON WATER

Recipe:

  • 16 oz. water

  • ½ lemon


Benefits: 


CELERY JUICE

Recipe: 

  • 1 large bunch of celery (16 oz.) 

  • Juice at home with a juicer and drink plain for optimal effects

*Pro tip: I recommend drinking this slowly, avoiding chugging it down, and spacing out your liquids with at least 10-15 minutes in between each beverage. 


HERBAL TEA

Recipe: 

  • Hot water

  • Herbal tea of choice (see list below)

  • Honey

Favorite herbs: 

  • Nettle leaf - hair protection/growth, anti-inflammatory, alleviates joint pain

  • Blue lotus - improves sexual performance, relieves anxiety, balances mental health


MY PERSONAL JOURNEY

I have always faced challenges regarding acne and hair loss  since my early teens. I have been drinking celery juice every morning on an empty stomach since 2018 and have undoubtedly noticed a major difference in my skin. I took a break from this routine for a year during my junior year of high school and my junior year of college which resulted in break outs, increased hair thinning, and visible inflammation. May 2018: Beginning of drinking celery juice

December 2018: Taking a break from celery juice

March 2019: Drinking celery juice consistently only for a few months

August 2022: Drinking celery juice for a few years

August 2023: After a year break from celery juice

August 2024: After drinking lemon water, celery juice, and herbal tea consistently for a year
FINAL THOUGHTS

While it can be daunting to alter or make an addition to your morning routine, I encourage you to take a chance on this holistic method and start slow. Adding one of these drinks at a time into your routine is optimal for habit stacking and minimizing too many bathroom breaks…If you know what I mean.


I would also like to include that the intake of these morning liquids will truly show major outcomes when eating as clean as possible, decreasing your intake of processed food, and increasing whole foods in your diet.
